Personal Fundraising

Adam's Cycle

As part of the games sub team I thought it would be a good idea to raise the necessary money through sport. After much thought, cycling seemed like the best way to do this. A personal ambition of mine was to reach 100 miles, so I was persistent that this had to be achieved. So at the start of summer I got on my bike and tried to get the miles up from 0 to 100. I severely underestimated the difficulty of this task for a beginner, having only two months practice. However knowing that the money was going to such a good cause inspired me to keep getting on the bike the next day. On 27th August I completed the lap of the lough. (It is not something I want to do again anytime soon)

Katie's Coffee Morning

On Saturday 1st April, I held a coffee morning at my church in Ahoghill. We had many sweet treats to offer as well as fresh off the griddle pancakes! There was a fantastic turnout of people and they all had an enjoyable time. I am so thankful for everyone's generosity and this money will be greatly appreciated by Asha and put to good use.

Erin's 5k Mud Run

On 9th April I completed the Jaffa Cakes Mud Madness 5k race in Craigavon to raise
money for Asha. With the help of my dad we became "Mud Madness Survivors" and successfully raised much appreciated funds through a crowdfunding page. It was extremely physically challenging and I don't think I've ever felt so cold in all my life however knowing that the money raised is going to those who need it most made the struggle worthwhile. Thank you so much to everyone who donated!

Matt's Fireside Quizzes

I decided to make a fireside quiz to raise money for Asha. What started off as being a small idea turned into a big one as people started buying multiple copies at a time - it even made it around the bingo circuit! I also ran a leg of the Belfast marathon relay race with some other team members which was an amazing experience which successfully raised money and awareness for Asha.

Zak's eBay Sales

For my fundraising for our trip to India, I did something a little out of the ordinary. After postponing clearing out my old clothes for many years, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to raise some money and put my old clothes to good use. I sold all of my old possessions on eBay, as well as clothes and items that had been donated to me, with all the money going to Asha. I even managed to sell a pair of pink Doc Martins (not mine of course) to a lady in Latvia! Thanks to all of those who donated their old gear to my sale.

Laura and Bethan's Curry Night

On Friday 7th April we held a "curry night" fundraiser in Second Broughshane church hall. The event was very successful and we had an amazing turnout. We spent the entire morning making the curry and decorating the hall in traditional Indian colors with Indian flags. The night included a main course of curry, rice and naan bread. That was followed by musical performances from a couple of girls and some children from the church, after which we enjoyed some dessert and coffee. At the event we had a short PowerPoint of photos from previous trips, explained the roles of the four sub teams and our aim for our trip to India. Everyone had an enjoyable evening and through the generosity of all who came we will be able to help the children of Tigri and support the work of Asha.

Suzanne's Chinese Night

On 26th April, I held a Chinese banquet in the Go Sun in Ballymena. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal which was then followed by a raffle. I was overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who attended and also those who couldn't make it on the night! I would like to thank everyone who came along, I am very grateful for all of your support!

Rachelle's Coffee Morning

For my fundraiser on 18th March I decided to hold a coffe morning in Wellington's Café Aroma. After weeks of preparation I finally pulled together a very successful coffee morning with the help of friends and family. The generosity of people was incredible as many had baked buns, cakes and biscuits to contribute. Thank you to everyone who supported and donated to Asha!

Stephanie's Fireside Quizzes

From the 1st of June to the 1st August myself and my granny created and sold fireside quizzes to neighbors and friends! We were expecting to get a few pounds but with the outstanding generosity from everyone we raised more than we could've ever hoped! My family and friends have been so generous, so much so that my uncle did a 100 mile coastal cycle in aid of Asha!

Aimee's Coffee Morning

For my main fundraiser I decided to organise a coffee morning. I was anxious at at first about how many people would turn up but there was a great turnout and everyone enjoyed some tea, coffee, scones and traybakes. I am so grateful for everyone's kind donations as I know how far even just a small amount of money can go and how many people it can help.

Lauren's Table Quiz

Before exams started, I decided to host a table quiz at the Anchor Complex in Portstewart! We had 5 rounds of questions with different themes. We finished off the night with a raffle and other games. Everyone enjoyed the evening! I was astonished at the generosity of the guests and the staff at the Anchor Complex and am so thankful to those who contributed so kindly to the charity!

Jessica's Craft Evening

My fundraiser for Asha was on Thursday 31st August. As I am on the arts and crafts team, I wanted my fundraiser tie in with this. Therefore I decided to have a craft and coffee evening where my mum and I taught people how to sew brooches, home furnishings and make-up bags. The night was a massive success! There was around 75 people who came to support me and we raised lots of money for Asha!

Jonny's Marathon Run

For my fundraising I completed the 12k leg of the Belfast marathon. I was able to raise a good amount of money as I think people thought it would be quite a challenge considering how lazy I am! It was quite a brutal run as I really didn't prepare adequately and was sick all weekend before it! The Antrim road felt like Everest but i eventually conquered it and was glad to be finished!

Susanna's Evening Meal

On Thursday 4th May I had my fundraiser in Montgomery's Ballymena. We had a three course meal accompanied by singing from my cousin and playing piano and violin from my friends and cousin, followed by a low priced auction. There was a powerpoint running in the background on the work of Asha and the team. Everyone who came enjoyed the night.
